about

Jurnet's Bar - a totally one-off, medieval undercroft music venue and social club - closed in 2022 after 40 years entertaining customers. This is the story of that bar, the building in which it stood, and The Music House - the weekly acoustic night that we ran there, named after the building. The song was originally written and recorded for an unreleased compilation album several years ago, when Jurnet's was under threat of closure due to apparent underuse. People rallied round on that occasion and saved the venue. Unfortunately, damp and structural issues were trickier fixes. I've added a coda to the song to bring the story up to date. The building has seen much drama over the years and always seems to bounce back - here's hoping it does again one day soon.
