about

I was sent home from work a few days ahead of the national lockdown in March 2020 and after sitting around for about ten minutes I decided on the spot to produce a "One Month Album" for the project of the same name. Fortuitously, the project - which occurs in different months each year - was set to happen in March of that year and I had been toying with the idea of producing my second such work. There wasn't much left of March, but I figured with little else to do, it would clearly be more possible. Little did I know I would have a very busy pandemic!

This comes first, as it was the first song i set about writing for this project. I set up my keyboard in the middle of the front room, as I figured that visitors would not be a problem, and set to work. It is unusual for me to write at the keyboard, but this came surprisingly quickly. I used the leslie-d wurly sound on the nord that had been programmed for a Stromm song and worked out the words while playing the riff (quite an achievement for me). Vocals were recorded quickly but later replaced with some kitchen singing, along with some acoustic, which has happily finally emerged from the mush at the mixing and mastering stage. Drums were recorded at my Mum's house, twice. Neither were a charm, but I made them work with some modern tricks.
